Inmates of the Moscow military academies have crossed the swords with the French fencers.

On April 3, 2007 in the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation there has taken place the international youth tournament in fencing on swords, which was attended by the athletes from the French town Le Touquet(Normandy), and students of Moscow Suvorov military school, Marine cadet classes "Gardemarines" and the Moscow Sholokhov Cossack Regiment.

In 2006, in the framework of the International Charity Fund "For the Future of Fencing" in the Moscow military schools there were opened fencing training courses. The Fund has provided them with the equipment, outfits and coaching staff. Naturally, the tournament with the French fencers became an extraordinary event for the young Russian fencers, all the more so it took place in premises of the Diplomatic Academy.

The participants of the competitions were approximately of the same age, but the representatives of Normandy were more experienced in fencing and in participation in competitions. In France, fencing can be considered a kind of national sport. In 750 fencing clubs of France both, 6-7 year old kids and their parents and grandparents are getting trained in fencing.

However, the Russian competitors did not get frustrated and demonstrated an adequate resistance. In the battle for the 1-st place the Frenchmen have defeated the Moscow Suvorov school with an advantage of only two pricks, (the score was 45:43). The third place was taken by the team of marine cadet school, and the fourth - by the young Cossacks. After the official tournament there were organized fencing show battles with the involvement of the students of the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering, the Diplomatic Academy, the masters of sports of Russia in foil and swords fencing, as well as the actors of "Espada" studio.
