International Charity Fund «For Future of Fencing» supplies fencing gear for prize-winners of the world championship among juniors and cadets. The World Fencing Championship among juniors and cadets takes place In Belfast (UK). President of the Fund «For Future Fencing» Vitaly Logvin presents to all the prize-winners of these competitions certificates giving the right to acquire a full set of expensive fencing gear. Participation of many countries in the world championship has been made possible thanks to the fact that for the first time in the history of the competitions the International Federation of Fencing (FIE) reimburses the expenses of two athletes from each national federation in accordance with the confederation’s development plan the main provisions of which were released in the pre-election program of the FIE President Alisher Usmanov. The General Assembly of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) chaired by Alisher Usmanov was held the day before the world championship in Belfast. The outcome of the Assembly was triumphant for Usmanov elected the President of the FIE in December 2008 and carrying out such a large meeting for the first time. The Assembly unanimously voted in favor of the budget for 2009 – 2010 proposed by Usmanov and his speech opening the assembly was interrupted by applauses several times. During the meeting the President of the FIE described the activities of the governing bodies of the organization in the past three months. He stressed that the main purpose is still an increase in the number of medals for fencing on the Olympics from ten to twelve, as well as all the popularization of this sport. In order to move forward in achieving these goals some meetings between Usmanov and the heads of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) were organized. The most important among them was the meeting with IOC President Jacques Rogge where Usmanov presented the FIE arguments in favor of increasing the number of Olympic medals and received assurances that the IOC will consider them carefully. Later a meeting between Alisher Usmanov and the IOC Executive Director Gilbert Felly was held and also a meeting of the delegation led by Secretary-General of the FIE Paramonov Maxim with the IOC sports director Christophe Dyubi. In Belfast the Assembly voted for the cities claiming a world championship in 2012 and world championships among cadets and juniors 2010 and 2011. As candidates for the World Championship-2012 among adults Budapest (Hungary), Varna (Bulgaria), Catania (Italy) and Tianjin (China) have been approved. Baku (Azerbaijan) puts in a claim for the world championship among juniors and cadets of 2010 and Kiev (Ukraine)-2011. Final decisions on these matters would be taken at the Congress of the FIE which will be held on 21-22 November this year in Palermo (Italy).
